At the end of November 2021, I joined Agenta as Production Designer. Agenta provides custom websites and marketing for Real Estate agents using a subscription model. My role as Production Designer was to design and create visually appealing and user-friendly websites for Real Estate agents.
I quickly learned and adapted to building websites on Agenta’s proprietary WordPress theme. During my time here my skills as a Designer and Front End Developer greatly improved. With each new project, I sharpened and honed my skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/jQuery. The more projects I took on, the more efficient I became at creating designs that allowed our clients to tell their unique stories.
While at Agenta, I’ve created new universal elements that can be used throughout the platform. These have benefitted both the platform and our users. The elements that I created allowed for quicker production, while also increasing the value of each client’s subscription (increasing lead generation, reducing bounce rate, etc.) I’ve also created website templates that allow use to cut down the time of initial production for each client.
Working with my project manager and team lead, I learned how to listen to our clients’ needs and transform them into the website of their dreams. Doing so required identifying the stakeholders of each project, and understanding how users would interact with each website. It was also essential to understand each client’s goal with their website (online presence, lead generation, referrals), in order to create a product that would exceed their expectations.
DESIGN PROCESS
The beginning the design process begins with the orientation call. I would join my project manager on a call with the client where we would discuss all things related to their goal of the website. This included broad aspects (color palette, target audience, etc) as well as fine details (typefaces, patterns, catchphrases, etc).
After this call, and the project manager’s initial paperwork/notes, the project would be handed over to me. From here I would take the project from basically just an idea and some notes, to a fully functional website.
Once satisfied with my design, we would send it back to the client for an alpha review. From then on, the process would become iterative until our clients would be fully satisfied with their new website. For ongoing clients, I also took care of any additions or changes to their live websites.
